Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has reportedly been shot at by his Migori’s counterpart bodyguard, reports a popular blogger.
According to Abdullahi Musa, the Governor was to launch Migori county offices in the company of Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed only to find the offices had been petrol bombed by goons believed to have been hired by Migori Governor Zacharia Okoth Obado.
Obado had earlier vowed ODM would not hold a rally at Posta gounds in Migori. He made good his threat after he gate crushed the rally accompanied by his bodyguards while Senator Anyang’ Nyongo was addressing the area residents.
The agitated crowd started booing and throwing missiles at the podium prompting Obado’s bodyguards to respond by firing at the VIP section.
Mvita MP Abdulswamad was quoted by the Star as saying the bullet was meant for Joho.
"This was an assassination attempt. They were after Joho. Our car was shot at three times," the legislator said.
Joho and Junet are said to have escaped death by a whisker. The Mombasa Governor driver was not so lucky as he was shot on the leg by Obado’s bodyguard.
